A new domestic abuse video was released during Safeguarding Adults Week 2023
Hidden Harms is the new domestic abuse video launched by Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland’s Safeguarding Adults Boards
If you notice changes in the behaviour or appearance of someone you know well or they start to avoid you or stop contacting you, ask yourself why? This video from the LLR Safeguarding Adults Boards explains in more detail how you can spot some of the signs of abuse.

What is Adult Safeguarding? Information sessions available in November
“What is Adult Safeguarding?” is an online information session for people who live and work in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. The Safeguarding Adults Boards are offering two sessions during November, click on one of the dates below to book your place online.

Covid-19 and flu vaccines
NHS England has announced plans for the delivery of this year’s autumn and winter flu and Covid-19 programme.
People who are 65 and over and others who are at particular risk, are now able to get their flu and Covid-19 vaccines ahead of winter. This will offer better protection ready for the coldest months of the winter, when viruses circulate more.
All eligible people can now book their Covid-19 and flu vaccinations. To find out if you are eligible and how to book your vaccinations visit the NHS Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR) Integrated Care Board (ICB) website.
Living Well with Dementia Strategy 2024-2028
Supporting and helping people living with dementia and their carers remains a priority for Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland’s (LLR) health, social care and voluntary organisations.
The draft Living Well with Dementia Strategy 2024-2028 sets out the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland ambitions to support people to live well with dementia.
The consultation runs from Monday 17 July until Friday 22 September 2023, and you can take part by visiting the Consultation page.
Improving the information exchange on virtual wards
NHS and social care colleagues in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR) are leading the way in linking up the information of patients on ‘virtual wards’ within the LLR Care Record.
The virtual ward service has been arranged locally by NHS Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Integrated Care Board and is being provided by a collaborative of local organisations, including University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust and Loros hospice care.
The LLR Care Record Programme is one of the first health and care systems in the country to integrate information from virtual wards into their shared care records programme. New carers booklet now available
To coincide with Carers Week 2023, a new pack promoting carers health and wellbeing with a focus on the importance of mental health has been launched.
Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust led this multi agency project to provide a range of information for carers across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland to help them feel supported and empowered.

Refreshed Joint Carers Strategy highlights commitment to supporting carers
Support for carers across the city, county and Rutland is outlined in the Joint Carers Strategy Refresh 2022-2025 – Recognising, Valuing and Supporting Carers in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland which has been approved by Leicester City Council, Leicestershire County Council and Rutland County Council.
This is a joint Strategy which has been developed by Leicestershire County Council, Leicester City Council, Rutland Council and the Integrated Care Board (ICB) across the LLR area. It commits all three councils to a shared vision and priorities for recognising, valuing, and supporting carers across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland.
The aim is to help carers to continue in their caring role and maintain their own health and wellbeing. Priorities include identifying and recognising carers quickly so that they can get access to the right support.
Mental Health Wellbeing and Recovery Support Service.
Leicestershire County Council, Leicester City Council, Rutland County Council and NHS Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR) have joined forces to relaunch the newly commissioned Mental Health Wellbeing and Recovery Support Service.
The service will see £1 million per year invested across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland over the next five years to provide advice, guidance and support for people’s emotional and mental health.
Four providers will cover different parts of the city and county:
- Leicester City and Rutland – People, Potential, Possibilities
- North West Leicestershire, Hinckley and Bosworth – Mental Health Matters
- Melton and Charnwood – Nottinghamshire Community Housing Association (contact details available online)
- Blaby, Oadby and Wigston, Harborough – Life Links
